So much of the success of relationships comes from having a pure heart.
When God brings someone into our lives, He is entrusting that person to our care. Often, the relationship will reflect some stuff on the inside that we need to clean up before we can enter into a healthy relationship. As hard as it is to look inward, we know that Jesus loves us enough to clean up our heart condition so that we will reflect His Love in our words and our actions.
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Giving our hearts away can be scary. We want our hearts to be in good shape so that it will be strong enough to support, encourage and serve others even when things are challenging. When our hearts our pure, decisions around love and relationships become so much easier.
For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise, they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’
Courting and dating can be a wonderful experience, or it can lead to heartbreak. Jesus cautions us about letting our hearts become hard toward others. If we let our hearts remain soft and not calloused, He will give us understanding, and we can be healed if we’ve been hurt by someone.
But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
Trusting Jesus with our hearts is the first step. Let Him search your heart and remove anything that is not of Him. When your heart is pure before the Lord, then you will experience the true design for Love that God has waiting for you.
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
The Holy Spirit abides deep within you to Counsel you and purify your heart. Your willingness to let Jesus teach you is what can help you to understand how to love another person in a healthy relationship that will lead to marriage.
I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
