Day 174

2 Chronicles

Rehoboam, Solomons son, is not at all like his grandfather King David; after he became strong, he turned away from God. What a lesson for us today to remember how God steps in when we are disobedient.

As we read these stories, I admit I’m longing for our reading of the New Testament. I think that’s why many people stop reading the Old Testament: they want to bypass the OT history and jump into the time when God sent His Son Jesus. Hang in there if this is hard for you: when you finish up, you’ll know so much more than many others do. You’ll appreciate John the Baptist announcing Jesus’ ministry. You’ll really be glad you persevered!
