Day  92

Judges 8-9

It’s hard to imagine Gideon’s enormous amount of children . . . and only his sons are mentioned! It’s difficult to not write more, as I say often, so I won’t.  But you’ll soon meet an unworthy man, Abimelech, and his conspiracy. And a brave woman, too, and Gideons son Jotham.  It’s getting difficult to keep everyone in order, isn’t it?

I promised yesterday to expand on the difference in the way Gideon’s men drank water. I’d never thought much about it until a Pastor explained his thoughts to me. There are many takes on it, but I admit I like his. The Pastor noted that the men lapping like dogs were so close they could see a reflection in the water of an enemy coming! The “scoopers” wouldn’t see their enemies in the same manner because they weren’t close enough. I heard this explanation at least 15 years ago, and it’s stuck with me.  What do you think?
