I found it particularly meaningful that Joshua 20 talks about the cities of refuge; a place of protection. Keeping the Biblical text in context, this was a literal place for people to run to for protection until the crime could be sorted out legally. Yet, today, I thought about the whole world having one place of refuge – a common protection by the Lord Himself. Throughout scripture we see the words “The Lord is our refuge,” so this chapter brought it home for me. While we haven’t reached the Psalms in our reading, I thought this one was appropriate to share today.
On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
