Prayer is restoring
“As long as you hate your enemy, a jail door is closed, and a prisoner is taken. But when you try to understand and release your foe from your hatred, then the prisoner is released, and that prisoner is you.”1
Friendships, work partnerships, marriages, and any other kind of relationship that is seemingly broken beyond repair can be taken to the Lord for His loving restoration. Realizing that many times a close bond will not develop again, just the simple act of stepping away from the damaged feelings, pride, and anger and joining peacefully to “agree to disagree” can change attitudes. When we experience relational brokenness, it either leaves a chasm in our hearts or a hole of hurt that distracts us from the joy of living.
God has taught me to pray for my enemies, and often my heart is softened, and He opens a door of healing. However some relationships don’t stick for a number of reasons, but we can still live in peace with those people because God loves them as much as He loves us.
Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.2
