Did you know that God likes jewelry?
Well, technically, God likes jewels, as in precious gemstones. God certainly enjoys them so much that He created the foundations and walls of heaven with them, and the gates, and the streets, which are gold! It’s all right there in Revelation 21:19-21 (AMP):
The foundation stones of the wall of the city were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite (yellow topaz); the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst.
And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each separate gate was of one single pearl. And the street (broad way) of the city was pure gold, like transparent crystal.
That is a whole bunch of beautiful jewelry if you ask me! (I must say, I am like my Heavenly Father in that regard; I like gems and jewels.)
Even more importantly, not only are jewels in the foundation and walls of heaven, but the Bible tells us that God sees us, you and me, like precious jewels and “treasures.” Matthew 13:44 (AMP) says,
The kingdom of heaven is like a very precious treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid again; then in his joy he goes and sells all he has and buys that field securing the treasure for himself.
Speaking of precious treasures, He also says we can find hidden treasure! It’s true! In Proverbs 2:1-5:
My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments… if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasure; then you will understand the reverent fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God.
About the verse above, Author Lori D’Augostine writes in “The Key to Unlocking Your Hidden Treasure:”
“The Bible is likened to a treasure in this verse… If we approach the Word of God like a hidden treasure, we gain total access to the knowledge or riches of God.”
The Bible also says that those who find God as their sole treasure will be a treasure unto Him…
In reading up on this topic of jewels, I also found that the Bible also speaks several times about rubies. In fact in Proverbs, He tells me that I am far above rubies! But that’s a whole article in itself, so, will you join me again to take a look at that the next time we visit?
Oh! And if this is our first visit, I should tell you, I am a writer by night because I am a Mountain-Taker by day! I live a life of adventures of faith, walking in high-tech, high heels, and hiking boots. Preferably in pink.
So, today, as I prepare to put on a little jewelry and my hiking boots, I am reminded of one of the songs on my hiking playlist, so I’ll leave you with that:
by Mercy Me
Before you ever took a breath
Long before the world began
Of all the wonders He possessed
There was one more precious
Of all the earth and skies above
You’re the one He madly loves…
You are treasured, you are sacred, you are His.”
If you are in need of inspiration, courage, or added grace for your season, I invite you to join me, encouraging each other, as we think about these things. For as she thinketh in her heart, so is she.
