Jeremy Camp ~ Here I Am To Worship

Jeremy Camp ~ Here I Am To Worship

Jeremy Camp

One of my favorite songs, I sing this to the Lord when I’m alone. Here I am to Worship creates in me an attitude of praise before the Lord. Jeremy Camp is one of many vocalists who sing this beautiful song, and I’ll share the lyrics below the video.

“Tim Hughes wrote this song in 1999 as a response to how he felt after reading Philippians 2. The passage speaks about Christ’s humility and how He willingly left His throne in heaven, came to earth as a man, and sacrificed Himself on the cross all because of His love for us. With this passage in mind, Tim picked up his guitar and, as he sang, the words to the song flowed out, but he was not satisfied with the chorus and felt that it did not flow well with the song. For several months, he struggled with the chorus and even put the song aside for about six months before finally finishing the song. However, he was still not confident in the chorus. It was not until he played this song at his home church Soul Survivor, and his pastor told him to play the song more often, that he realized the potential the song had. Since then, this song has spread and become widely known. Tim Hughes himself said. “No one has been more surprised than myself at seeing how God has used this worship song.” The themes in the song are Life of Jesus, Thankfulness, and Worship.”1

Here I Am To Worship

Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes and let me see
Beauty that made this heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You
Here I am to worship, here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
Altogether lovely, altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
King of all days, oh so highly exalted
You’re glorious in heaven above, yes You are
Humbly You came to this Earth You created
All for love’s sake became poorHere I am to worship, here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
Altogether lovely, altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to meI’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin up on that cross
I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin up on that cross

Here I am, here I am to worship You
Here I am to worship You
Help me sing

Here I am to worship You
Here I am to worship You
Here I am, here I am

Here I am to worship, here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
Altogether lovely, altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me

Here I am to worship, here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
Altogether lovely, altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me

Wonderful to me, You’re wonderful to me
You’re lovely and You are worthy
Say, say wonderful, wonderful

Here I am to worship
Here I am to worship
Here I am to worship
Here I am to worship
