The very first words of John refer to Jesus as, “The Word Became Flesh.”
If there was ever any doubt that words hold great meaning, read John 1:1 –
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
I just love how John uses Jesus as the Greek word, “Logos,” which means, “expressing the thoughts of the Father through the Spirit.” What a beautiful representation of how we can use the words from our Heavenly Father to express love to the people in our lives. When we speak Jesus words of Love to another person, in a sense, we let the Word of God become flesh.
During this Christmas season, we have the opportunity to speak words to encourage, support, praise, edify and exalt others. We can choose to say things that we know will build up another person that might even cause a smile.
It is believed that we have over 70,000 thoughts per day. How hard would it be to grab on to a dozen or so and turn those thoughts into words of praise or inspiration for another person? It only takes a second to say something nice.
Jesus was not only the Word, but God gave us the Bible as The Word of encouragement for every possible situation or experience. There are hundreds of verses that provide hope, grace, mercy, wisdom and love, all at our fingertips. When we can’t find the words to say, we can always send a Scripture that will say it for us. If you are the one that is discouraged or hurting, I pray these verses speak to your heart:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
“Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.”
“But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid; for the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken.”
“The LORD your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
“Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who meditate on His name.”
“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”
1 Corinthians 2:9
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
2 Peter 1:10-11
“Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
1 John 3:2
“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
