Psalm 4 ~ I’m Calling You, Lord!

Psalm 4

The beauty of Psalm 4 touched my heart deeply as I soaked in the wise words of David as he put his complete trust in the Lord.

David knew that during his anxiety filled days, God would come to his rescue when he prayed. And do you know that we can do the same thing? We have full assurance that when we call out to God, He will hear us. He has set apart those of us who love Him, and He wants the very best for us.

God’s greatest desire is for us to trust Him with all of our heart because He knows the result will be the greatest joy imaginable. Joy unexplainable! And finally, as we prepare for sleep, we are reminded to examine our hearts, waiting in silence for God to meet our deepest longings. How wonderful that we can sleep in sweet peace because God keeps us close in the safety of His loving arms.

Psalm 4

Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
    You have given me relief when I was in distress.
    Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!

O men,[a] how long shall my honor be turned into shame?
    How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah
But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself;
    the Lord hears when I call to him.

Be angry,[b] and do not sin;
    ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah
Offer right sacrifices,
    and put your trust in the Lord.

There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?
    Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!”
You have put more joy in my heart
    than they have when their grain and wine abound.

In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
    for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
