Hush Little Baby
Oh, how I wish I had known this many years ago with my old children and then with my little grandchildren ~ I used to walk them, sing to them, show them new sights. But that often took quite a bit of time time to quiet my little ones. Dr. Bob Hamilton, a pediatrician, shows us his trick that he’s been using for decades and I can’t wait to try it! The next time when I see a friends crying baby, I shall become the Baby Whisperer. 🙂
I also love the way Dr, Bob’s love for his little patients is so genuine.
When I was a baby my mother’s version of “Hush Little Baby” was part of my life and my siblings. Of course, I sang it to all of my little ones, children and grandchildren alike (the lyrics to that are below the video). However, this baby hold is really incredible and it’s going to help many new parents around the world.
Here are the 4 steps to the hold:
♥ Hold the baby’s arms across the chest
♥ Secure the arms after they are folded
♥ Grasp diaper area
♥ Gently rock the baby at a 45 degree angle rocking their ‘bootie’

Hush Little Baby Lyrics
Hush little baby, don’t say a word
Mama’s gonna buy you a mockin’ bird
And if that mockin’ bird won’t sing
Mama’s gonna buy you a diamond ring
And if that diamond ring is brass
Mama’s gonna buy you a lookin’ glass
And if that lookin’ glass gets broke
Mama’s gonna buy you a billy goat
And if that billy goat runs away
Mama’s gonna sing tra-la-boom-de-ay.
(My mom, Betty Capps, sang this version to me, so it has traveled down through the generations).
