But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.
1 Peter 3:15
I have a pocketful of favorite verses and 1 Peter 3:15 is one of them! Sharing our faith can be scary and intimidating at times when we try to do it in our own power . . . but when we allow things to happen naturally, it becomes really easy.
Think of it like this: Let’s say that like me you love honey crisp apples.
And let’s say you discovered an amazing deal at the grocery store where they were only 75 cents a pound. You’d want to tell everyone about it, right? You may rush to the phone, use texts to share the deal you found, or announce it on Facebook, Twitter, and any other social media site you frequent. You might even take a photo of your self and post it on Instagram.
That’s what sharing your love for Jesus can be like!
You don’t need any tools, any memorized verses, or Bible tracks. All you need is your heart . . . and your mouth. Open both of them and share your love for the Lord to the people who want to know what gives you hope. Share the joy you have in Jesus with respect and gentleness. You can do it! And then, leave the result to the Lord.
Going a little beyond using your open heart and open mouth . . . use social media in a respectful and gentle way too. We think Joyful Times Today and Trust in the Lord are two great places to start sharing from on Facebook!
Feel free to print out the graphic so you can memorize God’s word, use them like flash cards, or place them in places you’ll see every day. With 365 days a year, you’ll find knowing God’s word will bring you closer to Him and you’ll love knowing what He has to say to you.
