Verse of the Day ~ Proverbs 19:21

Verse of the Day

Many plans are in a man’s heart,
But the counsel of the Lord will stand.
Proverbs 19:21

Our verse of the day has been in the forefront of my mind for over twelve years. I used to start making plans as fast as you can imagine, getting caught up in the excitement of a new direction I thought I should go in.  But one day God taught me to rely on Him and stop relying on myself, to give Him my ideas, plans, and dreams, and allow Him to show me what would be best. Life has been much easier since I sought the Lord’s counsel.

In 2003 I decided I wanted to open a type of Bed and Breakfast for missionaries, pastors, and chaplains. I was certain it would be something God wanted for me to do, but He didn’t at that time.  I was so certain my idea would happen right away, I began drawing floor plans and making hundreds of lists to make my B & B an amazing retreat.

While my idea wasn’t bad, it wasn’t what God wanted for me then. I won’t go into all of the reasons, but it’s clear to me as I look back why He stopped everything quickly; I can see His hand working to protect me. Because my dream has never left, I still pray that God will one day provide the means for me to bless the people who minister to everyone else, but for now, my Father knows best.
