Verse of the Day ~ 1 John 4:11

Verse of the Day

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1 John 4:11

It’s not always easy to love some people. They are the EGR’s (extra grace required) people we come across.  Or maybe they are the mean ones who have such deep hurts they strike out at others defensively. No matter who or what they are, we still need to love them when God brings them onto our path. But it is the Spirit of God within me that is able to teach me how to love them; I can’t do it on my own.

In his book Bedside Blessings, Chuck Swindoll shares that we all need a “steady stream of love flowing among us.”  I love the visual this offers me, thinking of a small waterfall I saw on a trip to Oregon. He goes on to list three things that love should do: forgive quickly, willingly overlook, and refuse to take offense.

When I read Swindoll’s words, it reminded me of the bottom line: We need to love like Jesus loves.

  1. We are an Ad-supported ministry, so we rely on our Community members to show us support by clicking on the ads to check out what our advertisers have to offer.  We have worked hard to find advertisers that fit with our values and principles, so we know they’ll appreciate you taking a look and it sure helps us keep the website growing. We also have a “donate” button at the top left-hand button if you’d like to help us that way.
  2. Please take the time to encourage our Writer’s by commenting on their articles.  We work with independent writer’s who are working hard to write socially redeeming and joyful articles, so if they’ve written something you’ve enjoyed we’d sure appreciate you giving them a few words of praise in the comment section.
  3. Please check out our latest Articles; we really depend on our Community members to get the word out, so please like, comment and share the articles with your friends through the buttons at the bottom of the post.
