Verse of the Day ~ Hebrews 11:6

Verse of the Day

Without faith it is impossible to please God.
Hebrews 11:6

I spend a lot of time on Bible Gateway when I create the JoyfulTimesToday Bible in a Year – Word Alive in 365 daily posts, Verse of the Day, and articles I write from time to time. I love the Internet’s ease of copying and pasting, but my real love is for books. Maybe I’m just nostalgic, but there is something special about holding a book that seems more authentic.

This morning I picked up Bedside Blessings by Chuck Swindoll, a book I save for evening reading usually. I glanced at it twice while sipping my coffee and finally picked it up to read and I’m so glad I did. Chuck always delivers, and I needed the message today! Maybe you do too.

He pointed out how much it pleases God when we hold onto our faith. I underlined that. And he said he wants to encourage us to walk by faith. Underlining again. By the time I finished reading the small message, most of it was colored with my underlinings and notes. Let me share a line:

Stop this plagued biting of your nails and weariness of worry that you encourage within when the tests come.1

I’m going through a time of testing right now and happily, I can share I’m not nail biting.

I have such peace that when God is ready to step in, He will. He has been working with me for ten years, and I think I must be pleasing him right now. Please understand I’m not bragging . . . He gets every bit of the glory on this because my natural tendency is to fret, worry, plan, make lists, and start over again.

But it makes me so happy to think that I am pleasing God by walking in faith as I trust Him completely.
