The Way of Love ~ Part Thirteen
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13
Lord, I want to express love today, and every single day. My faith is in You, my hope is too. Help me show the world what Your love looks like. Use me as a example of Your love.
As we’ve read through 1 Corinthians 13 over the past two weeks, we’re reminded that Paul wanted love to trump spiritual gifts. One day these gifts will pass away, but for now, they are designed by God to help the church. Not the church as in a building, but the entire body of Christ. While the gifts will cease, love won’t, nor will faith and hope.
Without love, we are nothing. Without faith and hope, we can’t show agape love. They are tied together in a braid that cannot ever be undone. Oh, how we desperately need agape love in this mixed up world.
While Ecclesiastes 4:12 illustrates the importance of companionship, I love the symbolism of three: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Likewise, our three words today stand together:
Faith, Hope, and Love.
