Where’s My Passion?

I Miss Passion in My Life!

The dam finally broke. As I stood by our bedroom door and literally banged my head against the wall, I cried aloud to the Lord, “I miss passion in my life! I’ve lost my passion for You, Lord; for my ministry, for my husband, for my friends, for the lost. Please help me!”

As the children of Israel wandered in the desert for forty years, there were times when they were parched with thirst, and there was no water in sight. At one of these times, God told Moses,

“Gather the people together, so that I may give them water.”

Numbers 21:16

Did dark clouds gather? No. Was thunder heard or lightning seen? No. Did water fall from the sky? NO. The people gathered in circles on the sand and by faith used their rods and sticks to dig a hole in the hot sand. As they did they sang:

“Spring up, O well! Sing to it!” Numbers 21:17

And with that, gurgling water rose from the underground stream to fill the well, and it flowed along the dusty ground! It sounds crazy, doesn’t it? What a beautiful picture of what God wants me to do with the barren and thirsty places in my life.

My praise opens fountains in the desert as I come to Him with an expectant, believing heart.

How I thank God for His countless daily blessings in my life and recognize that He allows my struggles, pain and trials for a purpose. All of them! I often have to praise Him “by faith” rather than “by feelings,” yet the joy and passion that He gives me as a result of my obedience never disappoints!
