I believe she saw it before I did.
With eyes of faith, my daughter had looked into the supernatural and believed wholeheartedly that the miracle we were praying for would be manifested in June.
She described in great detail the color, interior and shape of the shiny new ‘thing’ that she was expecting. Her enthusiasm filled the room and inevitably, I was drawn into her world: a world of unreserved faith and wholehearted trust in God our Father. Together, through prayer, we reached into the invisible and grabbed a hold of what we desired.
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Recently, the Lord tugged on my heart to ensure that I make the effort to encourage discipline through daily devotions with her. Over the past few days, I have seen how excited she has become in anticipation of what we are believing God for. With a sparkle in her eye, she said “I’m waiting patiently mommy” before she prayed.
But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
It reminds me of Christmas as a child and the anticipation of awaiting the day to unwrap the gift under the tree with your name on it. In your mind, there is no doubt that the gadget or toy you had pointed out in the store to your parent was securely tucked under the tree.
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
Children have immense faith as a result of not being exposed to the rigors of tests and trials encountered by adults. Placing their faith entirely in the hands of their parents or guardians, they live carefree and joyful lives; that is why they have the capacity to love freely and trust without boundaries. This is the type of faith God wants us to have.
Child-like faith allows you to praise God in advance and thank Him for what you see with faith-filled eyes.
Do you see what I see? I see God as my Father making preparations for a grand reveal of the desires of my heart as He opens the floodgates of heaven and prepares to rain down showers of blessing.
With eyes of faith, let us look heavenward and hold on firmly to God’s promises, knowing that He will not go back on His Word.
